Do People Have a First Amendment Right to Say Whatever They Want?

Not that's a common misconception. You don't have a legal right to defame somebody else. Defamatory speech is not protected by the First Amendment. There are also other types of speech you can't yell fire in a crowded theater. So not everything that you say is protected by the First Amendment.
